Question:
How to redirect my readers from my old blog to my new blog?

I've transefered my blog (wenkai31.wordpress.com) to tpsychology.wordpress.com. Is there way for my readers to automatically be directed to my new blog when they enter wenkai31.wordpress.com in their URL bar?

e.g.
Mark entered wenkai31.wordpress.com in his URL bar and press enter. Is there a directing service to automatically direct him to my new blog instead of manually posting instructions about the move in my old blog? A service?

No, that is actually not allowed by wordpress.com.

You can transfer (redirect) your wordpress.com domain to another domain with $12/year. However, that is not allowed with another subdomain with wordpress.com

They don't allow it because in that case people may misuse it's free service and unnecessarily capture interesting names.

However, if you have access to any other domain (other than wordpress.com) then you can do it by using a double redirect, still it's going to cost you $12/year.

Process:

1. first redirect (301) wenkai31.wordpress.com to subdomain.YourOwnDomain.com from wp-admin of wenkai31.wordpress.com (wp-admin -> Settings -> domains)

2. then redirect (301) subdomain.YourOwnDomain.com to tpsychology.wordpress.com

Hi,

I just looked up the Wordpress plugins directory for you and saw a plugin tha will suit your needs. It's called "Redirection". An exerpt from their plugin description page:

# 404 error monitoring - captures a log of 404 errors and allows you to easily map these to 301 redirects

# Custom 'pass-through' redirections allowing you to pass a URL through to another page, file, or website.

# Full logs for all redirected URLs

# All URLs can be redirected, not just ones that don't exist

# Redirection methods - redirect based upon login status, redirect to random pages, redirect based upon the referrer

Hope that helps,

Elaine

put a link in your old blog and tell the readers to go there
